The Artist
Janet LaPointe knew she
wanted to be an artist at the age of eight. After winning many contests
as a teen, she enrolled as an art student at Tunxis Community College in
Connecticut. Janet also attended the School of the Worcester Art Museum. Being trained in fine arts,
her desire was to teach painting but she was without a studio until her husband of 25 years,
built one in their
home. In order to accommodate a home-based artist studio, Stephen
had to build a third floor addition. This new floor soon became known
as "The UpperRoom
Studio."
Janet's prophetic paintings are
inspired by the Holy Spirit
of God through both visions and dreams. In Revelation 19:10, John
writes "Worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of
prophecy." As music, song and dance are all glorious forms of
worship, so too is painting and drawing. All forms of worship are a sweet smelling fragrance
unto the Lord.
The following is what Janet has to say about her painting gift.... "My
God is a God of color and light. When I paint, I use color boldly to evoke
emotions within the viewer in order to get their attention.
I believe God has given me a message to carry to a lost and dying world. It
is a message of hope, love, and of most of all, of life eternal. What I paint is what I see by the
Spirit. When others see the paintings, my wish is that they will come to understand God's great love for
man. I also paint to show the Lord's victory over the forces of darkness.
I feel that all my paintings minister to the basic tenet of faith of all who
believe: 'For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten
Son...so that whoever believes in Him should
not perish but have eternal life.' My artistic expressions are to show others that there is a
purpose for their being placed here in this world and in their living. He has
always been there and will continue to be there leading them and guiding
them--they just need to be willing to receive it. When things look the darkest for them,
I want them to know that they
are indeed in the grip of God.
Today, Janet's prayer is to see her work minister to both spirit-filled believers
as well as those who are searching for the truth. As God touched Janet, so
too, her desire is that He may touch others through her paintings. People are hungry for evidence that God is still here and that
He cares....her work is indeed evidence.
